revolutionaryetude:

NO SOUND BUT THE WIND
The Editors

We can never go home
we no longer have one
[…] Help me to carry the fire
we will keep it alight forever
help me to carry the fire
it will light our way forever

Ok, let’s make this clear: it has NOT been written for Twilight saga. The Editors are NOT a band for teenager. This amazing song has been inspired by Cormac McCarthy’s novel The road - “no sound but the wind” and “help me to carry the fire” are actual quotes taken from the book. The movie producers, anyway, rejected it because it wasn’t really fitting the atmosphere of the long journey in a post-apocalyptic land.

There are many live versions of this song, a favourite from fans: in fact, it was first played live and then released (about 2 years after) as a single. The Strokes, R.E.M., Joy Divisions, all those sounds are put together with Tom Smith’s voice to create something very special.
Here you can find another beautiful version of this song.
